Equipment & safety

  • BS3998-guided pruning keeps shrubs and small trees healthy and balanced.
  • Clear signage and tidy work zones so residents and visitors can move safely.

Seasonal schedule

Each hedge is mapped by species so the right number of trims are booked each year:

  • Spring

Formative pruning of young hedges and shrubs before nesting season, plus a light feed to support new growth.

  • Summer

Formal hedges clipped to line, mixed hedgerows reduced, and debris bagged or stacked neatly the same day.

  • Autumn

Height reductions, thinning for airflow, and final tidy ahead of winter winds to keep hedges compact.

  • Winter

Structure shaping on dormant species and hard pruning for rejuvenation where the plant can take it.

Shrub care programme

  • Pruning plans aligned to whether shrubs flower on current or previous year’s growth.
  • Mulching and soil conditioning to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Monitoring for box blight, vine weevil, aphids, and other common issues.
  • Planting infill and replacement plans to maintain symmetry in mixed borders.

Optional extras

  • Hedge reduction and reshaping for overgrown conifer, laurel, or leylandii.
  • Dead-wooding and crown lifting on ornamental trees up to 3.5 m.
  • Bagging and council-compliant green waste handling so arisings are removed or staged neatly.
